Rehearsals September 2020

Hello all,

We are getting ever nearer to September and the resumption of choir rehearsals.  It’s clear that at the moment we are not going to be able to meet to sing – for that to happen all we can do is wait until singing is allowed to take place.  However we intend to do what many other choirs have been and are doing – meeting on Zoom.  No-one is pretending it’s anything like being together but it is a way of rehearsing and keeping our choir community together and can be fun!  We can even have a little chat and maybe a short quiz – you’ll have to make your own coffee though!

Joel, the committee plus a couple of guinea pigs have tried a Zoom rehearsal and have worked out what to do – and I know that some choir members have done Zoom rehearsals with other choirs, so any tips are welcome.  You will be sent information and instructions about how to log in to Zoom, and Valerie is very happy to help anyone who is having trouble or who hasn’t done it before.

We will hopefully be using two books/scores – Vaughan Williams A Fantasia on Christmas Carols ed. Stainer and Bell, and 100 Carols for Choirs.  Initially I’d like to know how many of you have either of these copies so that we can estimate how many hire copies we need.  (That is another difficult area at the moment as the library has been closed!).    If you want to buy the scores please let me know too, as we might get a discount if we order in bulk.

Please email me asap with this info.

The AGM will also take place on Zoom and I’ll be sending the papers out soon.  Joel and the committee are in full agreement that it is very important that we keep together as a choir, to support each other and have fun as we do what we can in the present situation. We might be able to perform a Christmas concert – we don’t know yet.

Thanks you and keep singing!
